If I Get the Job...

...and I'm not saying I WILL, but if I DO;

...I want to spend a bunch of money - maybe even my first paycheck - here.

...And I want Mbungo's brother, Wayfarer. I shall name him Jobu and he shall be the keeper of all things lost (and confiscated) .

Have you found him? Mbungo could sure use someone to write to during school. He gets so bored, just guarding things and starting angrily at tardy and distractive students.

I'm started lobbying my school to invests in a large-format color printer, so I can design my own posters. I have a stock full of stuff my students have made, but it's ratty and not very easy to read. They just don't have that grounding in print design theory, I guess. Those printers are in the 4-digit range, but there are a number of us who would use it, so I think I can justify the expense.

Don't forget to ask for teacher discounts. Many places don't advertise them, but offer them if you ask. And remember that what you buy on your own dollar may be tax deductible.

I haven't actually FOUND Jobu yet, but I know exactly where to look. There's a great little shop in the next town over that specializes in sterling silver jewelry, batik print wrap-skirts, and native-style carvings. It's where I go to get little Ugga-Bugga gifts for a GF of mine who loves such things (she's also wild about cows so, as a consequence, her home is the most startling blend of African-inspired tiki gods and cute, spotted cows. It's quite a trip).
